Find Relief from Endometriosis Naturally with Yoga Therapy
Living with endometriosis can feel overwhelming, especially when your pain is dismissed, concerns are minimized, or you’re left waiting years for a proper diagnosis or treatment.
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Millions of women worldwide share this struggle, searching for options beyond surgery or medication.
Yoga therapy provides a gentle, natural, and holistic approach to finding relief from endometriosis symptoms.
By supporting the body, calming the nervous system, and reconnecting you with your womb and feminine energy, yoga therapy can become a powerful tool for healing and daily symptom management.
What Is Endometriosis and Why Is It So Misunderstood?
“Endometriosis is when endometrial tissue is found in abnormal sites - on ovaries, within the myometrium, uterine tubes, or scattered through the peritoneal cavity or further afield (lungs, nose, etc).”
( Uma Tuli Dinsmore, PhD)
(Medical gallery of Blausen Medical 2014. WikiJournal of Medicine)
Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, often causing severe pelvic pain, heavy periods, fatigue, and sometimes infertility.
Endometriosis can cause intense physical and emotional pain. In rare cases, it’s even been found to affect organs like the lungs and brain.
Despite affecting about 1 in 10 women worldwide (Endometriosis UK), endometriosis is still widely misunderstood and frequently overlooked in medical settings.
Many women wait years for a proper diagnosis, often being told their pain is “normal” or dismissed altogether. This delay not only impacts physical health but also leaves women feeling unseen and unsupported in their healing journey.
Medical treatment for endometriosis
Once people are diagnosed with endometriosis, the treatment is typically ongoing contraceptives and eventual surgery to remove the deposits (usually laparoscopic).
Even if you’re prescribed surgery, it can take long. One year wait-lists are reported.
Symptoms Typically Combined With Endometriosis
Endometriosis is often combined with other symptoms such as:
IBS
Depression
Anxiety
Senses are heightened when experiencing pain. Blood flow goes to the peripheries, so systems such as digestion are not as important to your body.
How Does Endometriosis Feel?
Flare-ups can happen at different points in the cycle which can feel debilitating and life changing.
The pain is described as:
So bad I want to die,
I can’t walk,
I’m bloated like I’m pregnant,
I can’t have sex,
I cant enjoy pleasure,
Everything hurts.
How Yoga Therapy Supports Endometriosis Relief
From a yogic perspective ‘Shakti is not in her home’ ( Uma Tuli Dinsmore, PhD)
Shakti, the Sanskrit term for feminine energy, resides in the womb. When endometriosis occurs, this vital energy becomes displaced, leaving the body and mind feeling out of balance. Yoga Therapy helps guide Shakti back to her natural home - in the womb - supporting healing from within.
A natural, holistic approach to easing endometriosis symptoms begins with gentle daily practices. Incorporating these simple routines can make a meaningful difference. Key practices include:
Adequate rest – aim for at least 7 hours of sleep per night
Womb-focused yoga – gentle, restorative poses to support pelvic health
Meditation and mindfulness – womb meditations and pelvic floor breathwork to reduce stress and promote hormonal balance
My inspiration to use yoga therapy to support clients with endometriosis comes from personal experience. Several of my family members underwent hysterectomies, which they described as traumatic and, in many cases, unnecessary.
I was surprised by how quickly such major procedures were recommended without exploring less permanent, holistic options first.
Years later, while studying Womb Yoga with Uma Dinsmore (PhD), I discovered Yoga Therapy as a nurturing, holistic approach for managing endometriosis.
Case studies and client experiences have shown that regular Yoga Therapy practice for endometriosis can help reduce pain, improve pelvic function, and enhance overall well-being.
Despite its potential, natural and non-invasive remedies for endometriosis are still not widely known. Yoga Therapy provides women with practical tools to support their bodies, calm the nervous system, and regain a sense of control over their health.

Hi! I’m Joss Frank, Yoga Therapist C-IAYT and founder of Wild Womb. I understand how body and womb healing ignites when you look within for guidance because I self-healed from my painful periods, depression, anxiety, sexual assault, emotional and physical abuse after years of failed efforts to feel better about myself. My failed efforts led to a revelation that true healing comes from within and it requires loving community and professional support.
Today, I help people with womb and body healing so they can reclaim their feminine energy, love their bodies, and feel more confidence.
